Streaming Video has many available formats. We can produce Quicktime, RealVideo, DIVX, or Windows Media 9. The WMV format has by far the best download time/quality ration. This new technology uses the newest version of Windows Media Player 9.0. You won't believe how clear this is or how fast it loads.

Learn to use Green Screen on a budget in the streaming video tutorials.

This example was create in about 30 minutes in my office. I was wearing shorts at the time, it's hot in Florida. It is amazing that we are able to create professional quality streaming video on a budget these days, by just knowing a few tricks and the right software to buy. This piece was done with a cool product from Serious Magic, Visual Communicator Pro. I was pretty sold on it, but you have to have your PC hooked up while filming, running the background video at the same time.

My new favorite is Ulead's Video Studio 9. It is easier to use, and costs less, but the biggest thing is that I can shoot the video wherever I want, then bring it into the computer and remove the background with a few clicks.

I tested it by hanging a green sheet over the side of my car outside in the sun, and sat in front of it to shoot with a green screen. It worked like a charm. We go into more detail about green screen video on other pages, and in the streaming video tutorials, but basically we are looking at these factors to produce convincing streaming video.

  • Light, Light, and more light. Video likes light. It should be coming from the right and left equally, and maybe above or below as well. The real consideration is to have the green background well lit as well as the subject, and that the subject is not casting shadows on the green screen.

  • Sound sound and more sound. Turn the audio on the video above off, and see if it grabs you at all. Not.......

  • The right software for the job. Others have their merits, but Ulead's Video Studio 9 and Media Studio 8 make the task of green screen chromakey video editing a snap, and is thoroughly covered, with every mouse click shown, in our tutorial.

Adobe Premier was the software of choice for this in the past, but price and difficult learning curve have edged them out as of late... Most of the sample videos on the Streaming Video main page were created using Video Studio.

The Ulead products automate the video streaming process, it is as easy as selecting the size and quality .WMV you want to produce, and clicking go.

*If asked to download the new driver when you click it, say yes! It only takes a moment and makes all of your Windows Media play faster and better.

The only limit is our imagination. Add sound, streaming video and photo galleries.
Use Flash for the background of your videos. We will teach you how.
